Digital painting by me, Wicked Crow Studio
Original character by Sesshomaru-san.deviantart.com
Contest Prize for Sesshomaru-san.deviantart.com

I give thee permission to download this file but do not use it for commercial purpose or anywhere without Sesshomaru-san's or my permission.

Tool(s) Used:
GIMP 2.6.6 and Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet

About Concept:
Sofie, ~Sesshomaru-san's original character is suppose to have the essence of death but I failed to capture that Death'ness in her. However, the way I have her in the painting, she is marveled by the hour glass which symbolizes time commonly, but in this painting, it symbolizes decadence or decay. In the blurred background, it lies the burning temple.

The title, Inferno's Decadence means the decay caused by the flames of hell.

About Procedure(s):
Well, I started with thumbnail sketches. Then I drew a horizontal line and then went on developing the temple with two point perspective technique. At first, I had drawn Sofie sitting on a bench next to the burning temple holding the hour glass but I thought, that the character herself should be noticed greatly so I enlarged her in the image by putting her in front. I tried to use more than two layers but in the end, the image gets flattened on one layer while the original layers were hidden. On the flatten layer, I use lasso selection tool to select areas where I want to blur them with guassian blur filter. Then I added a soft glow while increase the overall saturation and contrast to give that intensity in the colors.

EAT ME!

About Concept
I had a plant and either a honey bee or butterfly in mind when I started to paint this. I then chose a Venus fly trap and a butterfly. It's a strange combination when I thought of it but it serves a purpose. It has a twist. The title is titled, "EAT ME!", but who is trying to eat who in such a desperate situation?

A butterfly survives by feeding off nector from flowers and the Venus fly trap, in this case, feeds off another flying insect.

At first, I had this scene take place on land but then again, I wanted to make it feel like a desperate situation where both species are stranded alone in the middle of the water; thus, this situation supports my title. It's practically, survival of the fittest.

I added a twist in this concept so it is up to you to decide who is the evil or the good one. Of course, the one devoured, dies.

Wow, this is my first digital painting done in the GIMP other than Photoshop. the GIMP is such an awesome program which is powerful and completely free. You can go download it yourself. In the beginning I criticized the program but the program has finally fixed the bugs and now it is awesome. Though I still prefer some things added to it since it's open source and anyone who knows how to program can add the extra useful features like free canvas rotation (a must have) and the ability to change the full image size from 300 to 72 dpi for the final output without any problems.
About Concept Design:

Remember Alice in Wonderland? Well, here is a refreshing visual for your memory. There's a rabbit, there's a clock, there were some editable and drinkable things labeled "eat me and eat me", cards...you get the picture.

I purposely did this in black and white instead of color because I wanted it to feel traditional and old-school. The apples represent the forbidden fruit and the bottle represent some sort of strong drink that makes you drunk. The clock has no label so it symbolizes infinite time. The cards which the spade stands out more represent that Death is very possible and the heart is blurred because it symbolizes that love and life are false or unclear. The black rabbit and the camera represents the one who captures the scene in your life.
About Concept:

What is a trench coat mafia? It is basically another term for Goths who wear trench coats.

This is suppose to be me, if I wish to dress up like a trench coat mafioso. There is a black suit, the scarf, and everything. I also added the whiteness in the face as well as the red eyes and the wicked hair style (wolverine style).

But, this is not how I really look like. This is Johnny [the] Reaper from my anime series, Dark Halo.

The whiteness in the face produces the grotesque look. The hair actually represents the devil's horns because of the two points that stick out. The black suit and the black band on the left arm is usually a tradition of mourn but in this case, it represents Death. The red tie represents defiance. The silky scarf is just an accessory that I just added because I've seen them worn by Mafia boss. The textured background is actually created with texts with the word, DEATH; they are just cloned with a few transforming adjustments like moving, scaling, and rotating.

I painted this all in one layer with the exception of a background layer. So total 2 layers used for the production without counting the minor layers which are like for my signature, watermark, and copyright information. But other than that, it's 2 layers that represents the production.

About Concept:
I was inspired by the demons in my favorite TV show, Supernatural. The demons were very modern in that TV series. Whenever a human is possessed, the total black pupils are the sign. I just love the black cornea and total black pupils for the demons.

I digitally painted a girl with a modern Victorian hair style or almost similar to Kanon Wakeshima's staring straightforward with demonic eyes (black pupils) slightly smiling while bleeding black tears. Her faint smile combine with the black tears represent revenge. Her pale face and black lips represent her dying self because it gives off a Death appearance.

Haruka STAR

Something I did a long time ago. Just decided to upload it here on CGsociety.org rather than just having it on my deviantart account.

About Concept

This is a birthday present for Haru-chan, whitepearlvoice376.deviantart.com You deserve it! XD! Hope you like it! XD!

Anyway, this female character is a vocaloid named Haruka created by whitepearlvoice376.deviantart.com herself. I remember entering one version of it in one of her contest but I didn't like the first one I did. I like this one better. It has more of an anime feel and it's probably one of my first successful digital painting painted in Corel Painter rather than in Photoshop.

The first title I had in mind for this piece was Haruka Pop, but I didn't like it because it sounds like a candy. So, I switched the pop to star which made much better sense because Haruka is performing on stage in the spot light.

Purple compliments with green. I used mostly digital acrylics for the overall coloring of the character. I used digital water color brush for the background; they were random strokes. Corel Painter Essentials 3 is pretty much limited other than painting. I had to create the background myself because it didn't offer any control with the gradients and I have to separate my layers rather than paint everything on one because the brush types are very sensitive over the other and produce some strange texturing blending results and it also resulted in a huge consumption of the RAM on my computer...even though I have up to 4 gig but if I can afford it and if it's available, I would purchase two 4 gig of RAM sticks which max out my total RAM capacity on my laptop which is a maximum of 8 gigs of RAM.

The Murder Queen

Title:The Murder Queen
Tools: Photoshop CS3 and Wacom Tablet

This is Yuki (my OC) surrounded by the murder from my anime, Imaginary Canvas

Yuki is spotted by red eye crows and gasped. She ran but tripped and collided with the atmosphere hard. The demonic-like murder tied red ribbons around her helping her up. She then realized that the murder is harmless but still approached them with cautioned. The murder slowly approached her while she petted the creature.

About the Concept:
I wanted to portray Yuki as the murder queen. Playing with the word, murder, she has a very dark side to her despair but at the same time, she is the queen of the crows. Her despair that she released onto her sketch book with her tears, has created an alternative world just for her. It was the world of sorrow and there were no happiness or joy; no laughter but wicked smiles; no beauty but death; no life support but only the murder by her side. She was the queen led by her dark messengers and light, the murder.

About the Concpet:

The title is Latin for "The Girl of the Night" or "The Girl About Night".

Night usually mean darkness and so I have drew a Gothic girl that is suitable to that theme. Black and purple colors were heavily use.

Why the rabbit? Well, I just had the thought of "Malice in Wonderland" in my head at the moment. So what is better than having a Goth Girl (Malice) hugging a fluffed white bunny?
About Concept:

I always wanted to portray despair in an image whether it is expressed extremely or mildly, there has to have some sort of drama for better story telling with still images.

I have a Chinese Princess here. What do you think she is showing based one her pose? Is she thinking or sad about being wedded? The reason I chose the title "She Awaits to Be Wed" is because there's a red ribbon sitting next to her but it is partially hidden.

The red ribbon is a Chinese custom usually use or worn in traditional Chinese weddings. It symbolizes "binding" which is obvious for two couples to be together. As you can see, this is my own style of the ribbon. If you image google the red chinese ribbon, it looks a bit different from mine. The hidden red ribbon can mean that the wedding is a secret or is unacceptable.

I also included my version of lotus flowers. The petals on the floor represent the decay of beauty while the whole lotus on the ground represent a fallen beauty.

I kept the chair plain because if I actually added designs, it would be too distracting.

Anyways, I TOTALLY free handed this piece without reference.
I did gave her A LOT of ribbons and they're lengthy ones too. XD! I wanted to put some sort of oriental design on her little pink skirt like sakura petals or some Chinese or Japanese Kanji but I didn't know any at the time so whatever...Oh, and can't forget about her short katana which is very deadly at close range.
About Concept:

The title means killing the devil. In this artwork of mine, I wanted to portray greedy businessmen as demons because they ruin life using the power of money; buying up people's home and kicking the tenants out in order to expand their corporation; they do not have sympathy. The demon is being hanged by the chain while the pentagram helps identify it.

The character in the foreground holding the pencil and holding the chain is my original character named Johnny Reaper from my anime series, Dark Halo. As what his last name says, he is the reaper but he kills demons in order to stabilize the order of life but he is not kind in doing so.

The pencil in Johnny's hand represents Death's hand when he checks off the list of other soon-to-be-dead victims.

The background is suppose to be brick walls with tombstones and crucifixes coming out of them.
